Neon Friday Night Bash Birthday

Friday, February 28, 2014

Our sweet William turned 5 last weekend!  We had so much fun putting his neon Birthday party together.  I tried to just go with the flow and not get too organized with this one. We used our unfinished basement and it was perfect. It reminded me of an old artist loft. The industrial touches kept it rustic and boyish and the bright Neon kept it festive and fun!  The funny thing is that when I was in middle school I went to a party in this same basement....talk about a nostalgic adolescent moment!!
We started with this invitation...Here. I really didn't have much of a plan, I went to Walmart and grabbed a bunch of neon things from the office supply, arts&crafts and hardware isles.  Then William and I just went for it.  We had our little studio time while little brother went to bed.....Here are some pics of our work:

I decided our unfinished walls needed some art work. So I asked William what we should paint and he said: Bubble Gum!

Then he said "Candy Land"....(with that enthusiasm too!!) He is my little decorator and could do it all day!
 Then he said "A Sword"!!!
We used neon yarn across the ceiling.  It was really inexpensive and had a great electric effect!

We painted the kids faces with neon glow in the dark paint and turned the black lights on and cranked the music up!!
The kids and big kids loved it!
Happy Birthday sweet Boy, you light up our life in so many ways!!

So great, Julie! I love that it looks wonderful, but you were able to let William have a say in much of it…what a win!
