Choices and Blessings

This weekend we are getting rid of my good old Jetta.  She has taken good care of me taking many trips to Iowa and getting me around town for over 10 years now.  But she is not needed anymore. Scotty drove her the past 5 years and it wasn't during her best years.....she was slowly dieing.  Not that she couldn't be worked on and repaired. Through a series of choices we simply don't need her anymore....

Choice#1: Bought a Jeep when we were 1st married or not married (mistake #1 we weren't married yet when we bought it, mistake #2 we couldn't afford it)
Choice#2: We chose to get on a budget and get out of debt
Choice#3: We chose to get out of debt faster by selling the jeep
Choice#4: Made a little money off the Jeep and we bought a Van with cash
Choice#5: Finished getting out of debt and decided even though the Jetta was dieing to start saving for an emergency fund
Choice#6:  Even though we had money saved up for another car we didn't hurry to buy but debated whether or not to put that money towards Scotty's schooling.
Choice#7:  We decided we weren't going to take student loans out and pay for school as we go.  Which met we were sticking with the good old Jetta until she officially dies.

I'm happy to report that God has been faithful to us and has changed our situation...  Scotty's mom gave us her jeep because her dad had bought her a new car.  Which means we get to say so long to the Jetta....I'm so happy for Scotty! Scotty's grandma set up a trust for education and Scotty's school is being paid for.  Which means I get to stay home with my kids and still have enough for savings and giving.  I'm simply amazed how God has blessed us. Not to say that God only blesses people that make good choices and doesn't bless people that make bad choices....that would be too easy for us to figure Him out and He's much more complex than that!  The older I get I realize we serve a God of timing....I feel like we got to enjoy the blessing more knowing we waited and received the blessing in His timing!  And to think that it all started with us buying a Jeep we couldn't afford and now He has returned a Jeep back to us....again I'm amazed!

A big thanks to my husband that drove our Jetta and sacrificed his comfort all of those hot summer months with no AC just for starters. Big thanks to Scotty's mom and Sam for giving us the Jeep and for Scotty's Grandma for setting up the fund for education.  We take these blessings to heart and hope to continue to be good stewards of our money and bless our childern like you have blessed us!

So it was a good day when we gave the Jetta a good bath to sell her.....William joined Scotty and was a good helper.
I just love the underwear shot! He doesn't wear much during the summer months.:)
He was focused, he washed it for at least a 1/2 hour.

 Such a good helper!
We have a couple people interested in the Jetta....she is only $500 bucks.  Which leads to another choice and that's using that money to buy new tires for the Jeep.
Looking at my little boy here I realize even more how our choices effect him.  I pray we will continue to be sensitive to the little choices we make on a daily basis.  Here a little quote about choices from CS Lewis...Love his quotes!  Happy Tuesday!

"[E]very time you make a choice you are turning into the central part of you, the part of you that chooses, into something a little different than it was before. And taking your life as a whole, with all your innumerable choices, all your life long you are slowly turning this central thing into a heavenly creature or a hellish creature: either into a creature that is in harmony with God, and with other creatures, and with itself, or else into one that is in a state of war and hatred with God, and with its fellow creatures, and with itself. To be the one kind of creature is heaven: that is, it is joy and peace and knowledge and power. To be the other means madness, horror, idiocy, rage, impotence, and eternal loneliness. Each of us at each moment is progressing to the one state of the other." — C.S. Lewis (Mere Christianity)
