Little Green House: indoor plants

Brrrrr.....I hate to complain about the weather but Brrrr!!  I did ask for it when I moved back to Iowa.  Since we've moved we've had drastic temperatures all year round!  Really hot summers, and it snowed in May last year!  I don't remember it being this way! Can I please have longer fall and springs, cooler summers, and winters with less zero degree temps with more snow!  I put my order in, we'll have to see what happens.  But for now it's going to be cold and we have to deal.....
Last year I painted a couple of Iowa landscapes with winter in mind. I love Iowa and the cold weather too but it can be brutal.  So I wanted to paint something that will remind me of warmer weather and hopes of spring.  The one below is all about Iowa's dark rich soil.....I can smell it now!  PS: I put a couple of the boys farm animals up there, thought they were fitting and could somehow jump right into that painting:)
This one is about the warmth of summer and I can just see myself picking a perfect fishing spot at this pond...
I've told you before I like having plants around my home. I've been slowly but surely buying plants.  I started with boxwood bushes and after my daughters passing I got a few more beauties that can care for.  I love them....its been really healing to care for them especially in the cold months and to think of my baby!
I love my Christmas Cactus!  It has a a special place in my heart for my daughter Gracie.  It will bloom every December with pretty pink blooms and it will be special memory of her for us every year.  I put it in a pretty dish my grandma gave me.  I like to move my plants around a lot and I thought what a perfect spot right under my wedding photo....the dish and my wedding dress have the same ruffles!! Here's a little peek of a few of my other green gems.....
This is my 1st go with terrarium potting.  They are easy as pie and hard to kill....joy! joy!

To all my mid west friends hang in there.  Pretty soon we'll be seeing little green buds pushing through the ground.   But for now this little house is working hard on our mudroom, preparing for our son's 5th Birthday and a few other little things.....more to come.
Stay warm!!

I love all your indoor plants, Julie! I frequently eye the ivy at the store, but haven't made the leap to purchase it...not that it's expensive. Currently, I have a couple of African Violets (looking a little sad), and some Paperwhites (although done blooming the greenery is pretty). As for the weather? We just received a round of ice and snow is on its way! I look longingly at my garden and think it's just next month that I can plant Spinach and Kale. :)
